Hawaii State Archives Land Index is organized by names of individuals, agencies, organizations and businesses. Indexes arranged alphabetically are to government records from the Kingdom, Provisional Government, Republic and Territory of Hawaii. Many of the index entries refer to records from the Privy Council, Interior Department, Foreign Office, Commissioner of Public Lands, and Territorial Governor's administration records. The Land Index is not a comprehensive list of all land records.
Names of land hui, settlement associations and estates are found in the agency, company section. Names followed by the Hawaiian word - ma are usually land hui.
At this time names of persons, agencies, business and organization from letters O-Z are available online. Entries to the online Land Index will be updated periodicaly. The complete Land Index is available in the Hawaii State Archives reading room.
The Index entries refer to records in the Hawaii State Archives in Honolulu, Hawaii. The Archives is open to the public Monday through Friday, 9:00 am to 4:00 pm excluding State of Hawaii holidays.
