About this collection

The Hawaii State Archives Subject Index provides subject access to records and letterbooks of the Hawaii Interior Department and Foreign Office and Executive, some private collections, library books, pamphlets, broadsides, newspapers and periodicals. It is the most complete for the Interior Department and the Foreign Office and Executive records. Newspapers (1836-1950) include the Advertiser, Star Bulletin, Polynesian, Hawaiian Gazette, and the Friend, but none of them are completely indexed.
